Let's give these orangutans a future!
Thanks to your support, even more animals will be rescued from abuse and given new homes for life at FOUR PAWS' sanctuaries; safe, protected and loved. Your kind donations will also help us campaign for improved animal welfare around the world. Thank you.
Orphaned orangutans need your help!
The ORANGUTAN FOREST SCHOOL in Borneo helps young orangutans learn all the skills they will later need to survive in the wild. It is divided into three different levels depending on the orphans' age and skills. The youngest will attend Kindergarten where they are assigned surrogate parents and live in the 'baby house'.
Once they are more independent and start to become adventurous, they move up to the Forest School. Here, the 2 to 9-year-old orangutans learn how to climb, forage for food and even how to properly clean themselves.
By the time they finish puberty, the orphans are ready to graduate the Forest Academy. They will then be released back into the wild where they can apply all the skills they have acquired during their time at the Forest School.
Thanks to the specialised program, the orangutans will not be dependent on humans but will be able to live independently and form lifelong bonds with others of their kind in the wild.
